ACDP
EMI
an Association of Christian Design Professionals(ACDP)

EMI is a ministry of, for and to architects, engineers, surveyors and other design professionals. In 1982 EMI began by a volunteer design professional helping a Christian ministry to the poor with design services. To this day, every project we do involves volunteer design professionals. The partnership of design professionals around the world is key to all the work we do. The ACDP is the practical expression of this partnership. ACDP Partners are those who support this ministry by volunteering their time, giving financially and joining in prayer. Each month we publish an ACDP technical newsletter that seeks to better prepare our ACDP Partners to serve with us. On occasion we hold a conference were we come together for fellowship, stories, training and worship.

Vision 2020
This year we will gather October 29-31 in Asheville, North Carolina at the Lifeway Ridgecrest Conference Center. Our theme is Vision 2020 as we look forward to the next decade of service. Our key note speaker is Edouard Lassegue (photo attached). Mr. Lassegue was born in Haiti. His father is a retired engineer in Haiti. Mr. Lassegue currently serves as the Regional Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean with Compassion International. Compassion International is a child sponsorship organization with a sponsorship of one million plus children around the world. Among EMI’s numerous partners in Haiti, we have been working with Compassion International to assess and repair many damaged structures following the devastating earthquake in January. We believe that Mr. Lassague is well positioned to help us learn lessons from Haiti as well as look to the next decade of service in the developing world. Progress is being made among the physically and spiritual poor around the world. However, with this progress comes questions of the changing role of those who seek to serve and be a blessing to the peoples of the developing world.

In addition to Mr. Lassegue we will have a variety of training sessions on topics ranging from architectural design practices in the developing world to alternative energy approaches to structures in earthquake areas to water/wastewater to cross cultural and preparing for an EMI trip. You will also have an opportunity to meet both EMI staff from various offices along with volunteers from around the country.
