The Streets of Haiti
Future Orphanage Land for His Glory
Project Scope
Haiti is one of poorest countries in the world, besieged by violence and extreme poverty. Its people are beautiful and long for a better life for themselves and their children. For His Glory Adoption Outreach seeks to meet the needs of those in such a dire condition, and is dedicated to placing orphaned children in Christian homes. The For His Glory (FHG) center in Port-Au-Prince is currently home to over 125 children, most who have been orphaned due to extreme poverty. FHG offers a safe place, three meals per day, clean drinking water and medical services to these orphans, while they wait to be adopted. For His Glory is dedicated to evangelizing birth parents of voluntarily orphaned children and those living in the surrounding areas, providing education and discipleship and preparing them for eternity.
For more on the ministry, see their website.
The time to adopt has lengthened because of government mandates, increasing the number of children in the orphanage. The rented facilities are filled to capacity and the financial pressures are mounting. More than 80 children per month are currently turned away because of these constraints. Fortunately a new 20 acre site on the southern coast of Haiti in the Fouchet area has been offered by the local government at an attractive price, and an American church has agreed to fund its purchase. It is a wonderful property right on the coast, with rolling hills and some potentially re-usable structures.
An EMI design team is needed. We will master plan the new campus and design the first few buildings to be constructed - probably a multipurpose building that can initially house and feed the orphans but become a school in the future; a small medical clinic, and the eventual family-style homes. We will also design a cost-effective and reliable infrastructure system. A portion of the land will also be developed agriculturally to provide for the orphanage - with crops, livestock and perhaps even a fish farm. Join this team and make a difference in the life of an orphan.
