Project Scope
EMI has more than a decade long history of working with The Moravian Institute in the development of its school campus. In its 50 year history, the Institute has touched thousands of unreached people with quality education, the Good News, and opportunities for personal advancement. In the last decade because of the creation of a new State government and the location of the seat of that government being near the Institute, some of the land owned by The Moravian Institute and slated for expansion was taken by the State government for its own purposes. This has been a hard and unjust trial to lose land to the government, but the ministry is still determined to press forward in its vision to provide education for more children and to grow its vocational training programs.
In 2005 before this difficult land issue arose, EMI had finished a long-term civil engineering improvements plan and published it. However, now that the land size has changed and the entrance to the site has moved, there is a need to incorporate the changes and revise the civil engineering plans. The site is located at the base of the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas. During the monsoon season (June - September), water from the entire surrounding area pours through the site and into a major drainage way. The previous stormwater design which included interception channel at the upper end of the site will need to be modified or re-designed based on the new entrance to the site. Also, plans for the development of a more robust water system and individual septic systems for new buildings need to be modified. For this small EMI team we are asking that the two or three design professionals commit to staying a little longer since we will be publishing the revised drawings and reports by the end of the trip instead of taking work home. Following the days on site, we will spend a week or so in the nearby EMI regional office in Mussoorie completing and publishing the work.
The scriptures say "when one member suffers, all the members suffer with it". EMI is committed to walking through the trials and difficulties with The Moravian Institute until they stand tall and complete in fulfilling the vision God has given them.
