Important message about the COVID-19 Coronavirus

In an effort to care for all of our personnel, families, and mission around the world, EMI has been taking a number of steps in response to the progress of COVID-19.

Location-specific Crisis Management Teams are now in place to monitor COVID developments, inform, and care for EMI personnel. All official EMI travel (including project travel) has been cancelled or postponed and no new travel plans are being prepared until further notice. EMI’s worldwide offices are in varying states of closure with personnel working remotely or from home as they are able.

We continue to actively monitor the situation and will respond to new information affecting our worldwide ministry and teams. We view the COVID-19 Coronavirus an opportunity to live out the gospel and our faith in Jesus through the ministry of EMI.

Although Dan’s education is from Canada and his practical experience has been mostly in the U.S., Dan’s heart has always been to serve the marginalized. This journey made big steps in 2011 during one of Dan’s first EMI projects to Haiti where he witnessed God’s redemptive work - and His caring for the poor. 8 years later, Dan is back in Canada, joining the EMI staff as a Project Leader, Project Development Manager, coordinating the Fellowship program and providing Architectural support for our other EMI offices overseas.

Ministry Experience

Working with a homeless ministry and his involvement in local churches in the Philadelphia area, Dan has witnessed real life examples of God’s care for the poor and marginalized – getting glimpses of how we are in this world but not of it.

Shortly after being married, Dan and Li-Ann moved to Philadelphia for Li-Ann’s graduate school in Art Therapy. The plan was to stay there for 2 years. Well, after 23 years, they have now seen their two daughters off to University. Ava (who is a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh) and Juliana (at McMaster University). Li-Ann has worked in community mental health for the past 12  years and currently provides mentorship and serves as the  Intern Coordinator for EMI Canada.
