Important message about the COVID-19 Coronavirus

In an effort to care for all of our personnel, families, and mission around the world, EMI has been taking a number of steps in response to the progress of COVID-19.

Location-specific Crisis Management Teams remain in place to monitor COVID developments, inform, and care for EMI personnel. Decisions about official EMI travel (including project travel) domestically and internationally are being made on a case-by-case basis by Office Directors in locations concerned. EMI’s worldwide offices remain in varying states of closure with personnel working remotely or from home.

We continue to actively monitor the situation and will respond to new information affecting our worldwide ministry and teams. We view the COVID-19 Coronavirus as an opportunity to live out the gospel and our faith in Jesus through the ministry of EMI.

Although Dan’s education is from Canada and his practical architectural experience has been mostly in the U.S.

However, Dan’s heart has always been to serve the marginalized as an international worker. This journey made big steps in 2011 during one of Dan’s first EMI projects to Haiti where he witnessed God’s redemptive work - and His caring for the poor. Eight years later, Dan joined EMI as full-time staff as a Project Leader, Project Development Manager, coordinating the Fellowship program and providing Architectural support for our other EMI offices around the world.

Ministry Experience

Dan has served on various church boards and non-profit committees in the past. But it was working with a homeless ministry in the Philadelphia area, where Dan witnessed real-life examples of God’s care for the marginalized – getting glimpses of God's love for the poor.

Around the world now, EMI designs over 80 development projects a year that serve the least reached and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Shortly after being married, Dan and Li-Ann moved to Philadelphia for Li-Ann’s graduate school in Art Therapy. The plan was to stay there for 2 years.

After 23 years in Pennsylvania, they have now seen their two daughters off to University. Ava (who is a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh) and Juliana (at McMaster University).

Li-Ann has worked in community mental health for over 12  years and currently provides mentorship to EMI Interns and Fellows. She also recently served as the Intern Coordinator for EMI Canada.
