Although Dan’s education is from Canada and his practical experience has been mostly in the U.S., Dan’s heart has always been to serve internationally. The start of this journey began in 2007 during Dan’s first EMI project to the Middle East where he witnessed God’s redemptive work - and His caring for the poor. More than a decade later, Dan is back in Canada, joining the EMI staff as a Project Leader, Architect and coordinating the Fellowship program.

Working with a homeless ministry and his involvement in local churches in the Philadelphia area, Dan has witnessed real life examples of God’s care for the poor and marginalized – getting glimpses of how we are in this world but not of it.
Dan and Li-Ann moved to Philadelphia for Li-Ann’s graduate school in Art Therapy. The plan was to stay there for 2 years. 23 years later, they have now seen their two daughters off to University. Ava (who is studying at the University of Pittsburgh) and Juliana (at McMaster University). Li-Ann has worked in community mental health for over 12 years and will look to make use of her skills here in Canada.
