The call to serving the international poor first emerged while in college during an engineering service trip to Panama in 1992. The calling took further shape in 1999 when I traveled to Nepal on a short term evangelism trip. After serving as a lay mission leader in my local church, a dissatisfaction with engineering led me out of the design profession to vocational ministry for the five years I worked with Antioch Network, an international Christian fellowship engaged in discipleship and evangelism. Various challenges led me, begrudgingly, back to civil engineering in 2009. A graduate program in international development and a trip to Kenya as a technical consultant in 2011 were key in transforming me from a reluctant engineer to one wholeheartedly engaged in service to the King.
