EMI is a Christian non-profit organisation comprised of architects, engineers, surveyors, and construction managers who prioritise Design, Discipleship, and Diversity. Since 1982, our global mission has been to develop people, design structures, and construct facilities that serve communities and the Church. We specialise in creating sustainable and impactful facilities such as hospitals, schools, and water systems. Our vision is to see "People restored by God and the world restored through design."

To better support our ministry partners, and address the evolving needs of our office team, EMI Uganda is seeking an HR Assistant to join our staff. This role is crucial in supporting the HR Manager in managing both national and expatriate personnel programs, and fostering a supportive and efficient work environment that is aligned with EMI’s values and mission.
The HR Assistant will be an integral part of our team, contributing to a range of HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and policy implementation. - Vibrant Christian faith
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience in human resources or administrative support (3+ years preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse, cross-cultural teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with HR software
- Basic understanding of Ugandan employment laws and HR best practices
- Ability to work effectively under emotional stress and in challenging situations
- Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, and interviewing
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees and manage employee exit procedures
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate personnel records
- Support the preparation and administration of payroll, and coordinate with the finance department for accurate processing
- Help administer employee benefits and manage related queries
- Oversee and coordinate both national and expatriate personnel programs, ensuring smooth integration and support
- Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Assist with organising staff events and promoting a positive work environment
- Provide administrative support for HR-related communications and programs
