This position exists to carry out the ministry of EMI by providing helpdesk support for IT functions relating to the USA Mobilizing Office, other Western hemisphere offices, as well as secondary assistance to other EMI worldwide offices.

  • Location:  USA Office
  • Reports to:  USA Office Director
  • Status & Class:  Full-time, non-exempt
  • Compensation:  This opportunity pays $17.00-20.00 per hour, DOE; and is a centrally-funded position

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Associate’s Degree in Business or Computer-related field; or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Certifications:  CompTIA A+, MCP, CCENT Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong background in Information Technology, with high level of communication skills

  • Physical Requirements: May be required to stand or sit for extended periods of time, may need to be able to access and work in atypical workspaces (above drop-ceilings, closets, etc.); lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks, work with tools



Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting problems relating to the IT systems in place at EMI and day-to-day operations
  • Provide software evaluation, packaging, deployment to EMI staff primarily in North/Central America, but also in other offices around the world as needed
  • Assist Global IT Director with EMI Global infrastructure and hardware deployment
  • Serve as technical resource for staff to assist in the resolution of complex IT problems/situations
  • Apply standards to system requirements
  • Document all aspects of technical work to provide appropriate information of cost and research
  • May recommend changes to clients that are needed to method, processes, hardware/software to provide a better working environment for end-user
  • Consult and work closely with staff to ensure implemented technology solutions are maintained, supported, and functioning properly
  • Assist with research of emerging technologies and recommended use
  • Assist in the development of cost benefit analysis for different technology solutions
  • Specialize in certain areas of technology to provide EMI’s staff an expert in different areas of technology
  • Continue personal and professional development to ensure continued growth, development, and ability to assist with leading EMI and co-workers in the future with the development of technology and business trends (including training, education, and certification)
  • Other tasks that enhance the overall IT system within EMI


  • Directly participate in, and indirectly support EMI’s efforts in, the development of people’s Christian faith and Christian practices (in accordance with EMI’s statement of faith) in oneself and in others including other staff, interns, volunteers, constituents and communities.
  • Participate in corporate prayer and bible study through EMI morning devotions, Days of Prayer, and other associated activities.
  • Participate in the spiritual and professional mentoring of interns. (optional)

Support Funding Development

  • Cultivate and maintain financial donor support from personal contacts sufficient to fund one’s own salary and/or ministry expenses.   [possibly as hybrid]
