Prior to and during architecture school Matthew spent 15 years working in the construction industry. Gaining a broad understanding of many different trades has helped support his understanding of architecture.  After graduating from NDSU, Matthew joined designArc Group in Brookings, SD. He spent only a short time there before God opened a door to pursue architecture mission work in Sierra Leone. Following his time in Sierra Leone, Matthew secured an internship with EMI, ultimately leading him to join staff.  God has called Matthew to serve with EMI in South Africa and has given him a heart for orphans.

Ministry Experience

Life on mission began at the age of 7 for Matthew, as his parents pursued missions in the marketplace with their family business. This was a foundational time for him. After attending Bible College, Matthew continued life on mission by serving at Camp Homewood teaching about horses and sharing the love of Jesus with kids.  After his time at Homewood, Matthew pursued men’s ministry and continued to grow in his leadership skills through attending the 40-Day: Daniel Leadership Institute. He continues life on mission, intentionally building community in the 30+ places he has lived. In recent years Matthew has also become an advocate for dyslexics, as he also lives with severe dyslexia.

Family

Matthew is married to his beautiful wife Nadja, who is a registered nurse from Switzerland. She has been serving in South Africa in various missions and is now pursuing her license to practice as a nurse in the less privileged areas of Cape Town. Both long to see the love of Jesus manifest through what they do and are committed to advance his kingdom.
Togther they love hosting people, exploring the nature by traveling, hiking, camping and surfing.
Their families in Minnesota and Switzerland are a great encouragement in their ministry, as they pray for them and love them well.
