Ministry Experience
In response to challenges facing his Congolese community, Ike founded SOS Congo (Sharing Our Stories) in 2014, an initiative dedicated to providing leadership and authentic representation by amplifying personal narratives to counter misrepresentations. Ike's family has a connection to EMI: in 2013, an EMI team traveled to the FACTEB campus in Boma, DRC, to provide designs for several buildings, work that his parents were involved with. Ike is grateful to now contribute his experience in intercultural communication, program management, and community building to EMI, helping connect resources and expertise to advance kingdom impact through design and service.
Family
Ike is a Canadian of Congolese descent, born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He spent his childhood growing up in three separate countries—Canada, the Democratic Republic of Congo (then known as Zaire), and the United States—experiences that shaped his deep cross-cultural insight and fluency in French and English. Upon returning to Canada, it didn't take long for Ike to step into leadership positions in his community, leveraging this unique perspective. He began serving early as a youth leader, providing transportation, tutoring, translation, and application support. At university, he co-founded the African and Caribbean Students' Association in 2008 (still active today) and helped organize the Black Gold Awards community showcase.
Ike is married to Ashley, his partner in community development work since they met at university in 2008. They have three children and reside in Calgary, Alberta.
