When I graduated with a degree in Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech, I had the amazing opportunity to intern with EMI! I began as an EMI intern with a 4-month commitment and a hospital project in Kenya, which grew to a year long internship as God then took me to design a Pastor's Training Center in Thailand. In Thailand, God asked me, "Will you be so one with Me that I can do just as I will? Will you be light and life and love My word fulfill?" This internship radically changed my life, my faith, my worldview, my purpose and calling.
Ministry Experience
After my internship, God called me back to serve full time with EMI for 6 years, co-leading EMI project trips and designing safe water and wastewater treatment for missionaries in Kenya, India, Guatemala, Honduras, Ukraine, Cambodia, Thailand, and Haiti! During this time, I also grew EMI’s intern program from one or two interns each semester, to sending up to 27 interns each semester to 5 EMI field offices, and designing an orientation to train our interns and staff before we sent them out! My passion for getting clean water for people and my heart for discipling college students found a perfect meld!
After homeschooling my daughter, Katie, and as we were preparing to send her off to university and facing an empty nest, in 2022, God was so gracious to open the doors, and invite me back to my original calling mobilizing, training and discipling college students to continue to bless ministries around the globe. My engineering skills are now rusty, but my passion for raising up laborers for the harvest field has only grown!
