About:
To carry out the ministry of EMI through its civil engineering initiatives, the Civil Engineering Team Leader at EMI Uganda is responsible for supervising the civil engineering functions and personnel. This role encompasses the development and training of students and young professionals, the management of civil engineering staff, and the oversight of the team’s output to ensure it meets the ministry’s goals.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or other related fields.
- 8-10+ years of Civil Engineering experience, including project management experience.
- Experience in design and construction phase supervision.
- Experience in detailed construction plan production.
- Experience in detail design of water, wastewater, storm drainage and detailed grading plans.
- Experience with civil design software, Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, and completing civil calculations.
Required basic qualities
- Vibrant Christian faith, High integrity and ethics.
- Desire and ability to work cross-culturally.
- Ability to manage work schedule with deadlines.
- Ability to initiate and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform civil analysis, design, and drafting on projects as required.
- Perform civil engineering and geo-technical review and consultation on projects as requested.
- Produce reports and calculations related to the engineering design and constructability of projects.
- Encourage, mentor, and direct graduate trainees and other civil engineers in civil engineering.
- Respond to construction administration questions from our field construction teams related to civil engineering.
- Assist in the coordination of design efforts across disciplines.
- Document and regularly self-assess professional development.
- Spiritual mentoring within the team.
