Do I need to RSVP to attend in person?

Your registration is your 'RSVP'. All registered conference participants who have paid for in-person tickets automatically reserve a seat at the in-person event. Seats will be limited in order to comply with Covid-19 regulations at the time of the event (currently we are required to limit attendance to 50% venue capacity).  There is no limit to the number of participants who can livestream select sessions during the event, and we encourage those who cannot join in person to participate online (see 'livestream event information' tab).

What can I expect for COVID-19 Social Distancing Restrictions?

All participants are expected to wear masks while inside the building. Only speakers and presenters will remove masks during their presentations while maintaining social distance. If you have been feeling sick or have been exposed to any confirmed cases within 14 days, we ask that you please participate online from your home. We are unfortunately unable to refund conference registration fees if you are unable to attend in person after registering for a seat.

How do I earn CPD credit?

For architects, in-person participation on Saturday 28 May will earn 1 CPD credit (approved by CIfA). You will be able to sign our register to verify your presence on that day. A certificate of participation will be issued within 2 weeks after the conference.

What is the dress code?

Most participants will dress business-casual.

Are meals provided?

Tea, coffee, snacks, and a hot lunch (Saturday only) will be provided for all participants who register for the in-person event.  Barista coffee will be on sale on the Saturday as well.

How do I get to the conference?

The event is located at EMI South Africa's office in Cape Town City Center. The address is 38 Hout Street, and the conference will take place on the 1st Floor. Plan to arrive early to the event. Bear in mind that most parking in the city centre is metered/charged hourly from 8am-5pm.

What should I bring to the conference?

A listening ear and an open heart. Please consider bringing a friend or co-worker. Optional: note-taking implements (pen & notepad/tablet/laptop).

My question wasn’t answered here, who do I ask?

Please contact the conference coordinator at karolien.wesselink@emiworld.org.

What is a livestream event?

A livestream event is an event that is broadcast live to various locations simultaneously through the Internet. We will stream select sessions of the EMI Southern Africa Network Conference via Zoom. Please see the "Conference Program" tab to see which sessions will be available online (conference program will be available soon). The livestream event will be available worldwide.

How do I connect to the livestream event?

Once a participant has registered, they can expect to receive an email before the event with the links to attend the Livestream event. Links will lead to Zoom. You may download the Zoom app ahead of time or simply view in your browser. We recommend a high-speed internet connection.

How do I earn CPD credit?

For architects, online participation on Saturday 28 May will earn CPD credit. The moderator on Zoom will verify your presence on that day, and we will follow up with you to provide proper documentation.

Do I keep my camera on or off during the event?

Keeping your camera on during the event will encourage engagement and interaction with other online participants, but it is not required.

Will I be able to send questions during the event?

Unfortunately, we will not have the ability to take questions from online participants live. If you have a burning question, you may email the conference coordinator with your question, and we will try our best to answer questions during the week after the conference.

Can I gather together with others near me to attend the livestream event?

Yes, as a networking event we encourage you to gather together and maintain social distancing recommendations for your location. You can invite co-workers and friends to attend with you at home or at work.
