Celebrating Lesley Smith's 10 Years at EMI

EMI Global , April 2, 2026

We’re excited to celebrate Lesley’s ten years with EMI and are deeply grateful for the countless ways she strengthens the people and mission of EMI.

After spending three years with a local church plant in Honduras, Lesley joined EMI Nicaragua in 2016, where she served as intern coordinator, event coordinator, and executive assistant to the director. In 2019, she transitioned to EMI Global as Intern Programme Manager, where she helped develop and implement new intern selection and application processes that improved the coordination and placement of interns across EMI. In 2020, she took over leadership of EMI’s new fellowship programme, expanding her role to HR Manager, Early Career Programmes. Since then, she has helped grow the fellowship into a rich and thriving development programme for early-career professionals.

Lesley has become a well-known resource for helping others navigate the inner workings of EMI – connecting the right people, fostering clear communication, and helping each person understand how their role contributes to the broader mission. Her extensive event coordination skills have supported directors conferences, leadership forums, and many other gatherings. Through all her service, Lesley demonstrates a deeper passion to do whatever is needed to support the success of those around her and to see EMI’s mission strengthened.

As her roles have changed, Lesley has remained committed to discipling and developing others, especially those early in their professional journeys. She invests personally in mentoring interns and fellows and is always available to her co-workers with a compassionate ear and a word of affirmation. Known for remembering the little details—someone’s favourite snack or personal quirk—she makes people feel seen and valued.

We are blessed to serve with you, Lesley.
