I am from Faridabad, just outside Delhi. I did my masters at School of Planning and Architecture. I found out about EMI through an EMI newsletter issue found in my house. I began reading about EMI and decided to apply for the internship. I have really enjoyed my time here. The people are wonderful to work with because they are very supportive and offer constructive criticism. It was great learning about the design process and how the EMI-Client relationship is a vital part of all projects. The office culture is communal. We would even play badminton or carom during lunch breaks and have the occasional chai times too. Even though it is a short way from home, it was a good experience staying in Delhi. I really enjoyed viewing the heritage buildings and architecture throughout the city. Delhi life offers so many options for food which I love to explore. I have had a great time here, and have grown in my professional work and gained confidence in my communication.
I grew up in a very small town called Clifton, Illinois in the United States. I grew up in the same community most of my life and even got my Bachelor of Science in Engineering close to there at Olivet Nazarene University. After graduating with my BSE, I moved to Smyrna, Tennessee. I began my young career as a structural engineer but felt like there was something more to working than that. When COVID hit I was let go and began to look for new opportunities to work with projects that I felt made a difference. That is when I found EMI and decided to apply for this internship. This internship has exceeded my expectations. I love the work I do and the people I work with. I was an outsider but was welcomed into their community immediately and I felt right at home even in a foreign country. I have really enjoyed living in Delhi and travelling to see different parts of India. I have loved every moment from quiet nights in, to weekend get-a-ways in the mountains.
