Josh Wood is an UK intern with EMI Senegal, having returned for a second term after spending last autumn with the Senegal office. Here's an update from him on the impact his internship is having.
Impact through Internship
Josh Wood - EMI Senegal

Through my internship with EMI Senegal, the Lord has taught me many things: He has given me a wealth of new experiences and has drawn me closer to Him. But whenever I have learnt something new, I have found myself asking the question, “When can I use this experience to give back to the Lord?”
Well, here is a story of when He helped me do just that.
At the start of February, I took part in a project trip to Sierra Leone to help conduct an infrastructure assessment at a Christian hospital. The team consisted of engineers, an architect, and a surveyor with the aim of reviewing the built systems at the site. During this trip, my role was to shadow and assist the lady who ran the survey with the aim of measuring the difference in elevation across the site. She went above and beyond for the project: she sourced, constructed, and transported brand new survey equipment to the site from the US. She also led me through the survey, showing me how to use the equipment, and was an example of patience when things did not go to plan. Thanks to her great leadership and investment in my learning, I was able to use this experience to serve a local Christian ministry on another project as I will share below.
After the trip ended, I returned to Senegal with the new equipment that the surveyor had gifted to the Office. I was then informed about an upcoming project to design a Christian children’s refuge facility based in Senegal, requiring architects, engineers, and…a surveyor. This was the opportunity I was looking for; it was a chance for me to use what I had learnt from the surveyor in Sierra Leone to make an impact for the Lord. The project trip took place two weeks ago, where I led the survey, and I am now in the process of developing the data. My hope is that it will help with the upcoming design of the refuge facility to help the Christian ministry to meet the needs of the local vulnerable children.

This internship has shown me that God is able to use everyone in a team to make a positive impact for His good plan, including the interns!
