“All who are thirsty…come drink” is the slogan for The Well, a café, bakeshop, and ice cream parlor. The Well Belitung is a social enterprise designed to provide ethical Food and Beverage services and apprenticeship training for an emerging hospitality industry in Belitung. As its name suggests, the concept is to be a thirst quencher, providing nourishment and inspiration for the local community and visitors alike. As a role model for ethical business, this training environment is especially conducive for wholistic human development. The Well is designed and purposed, start to finish, to provide life transformational opportunities for the prevention of and restoration from human trafficking.

After being connected with a previous EMI project (a training centre for victims of human trafficking in Ratanak Cambodia), EMI was chosen to come alongside the project to provide engineering, design, and architectural services. The café officially opened on July 22nd 2021.
