In rural and developing world contexts, Basic Utility Vehicles (BUVs) are an accessible way towards sustainable ministry – enabling Christian workers to reach and serve people in remote locations and provide opportunities for micro-businesses.
 

The Institute for Affordable Transportation reached out to EMI to develop a support space for their BUV programme in Uganda.
 

The idea was to repurpose a 40’ shipping container to serve as a mobile BUV workshop – where BUVs can be manufactured, maintained, and repaired.
 

EMI Uganda planned and executed the retrofit of the shipping container at its workshop at Kajjansi Airfield. The BUV Workshop is now up and running at the Sports Outreach Kampala Campus, in central Uganda.
