Empower International Academy - Phase 2, Uganda
Project Details
In 2015, EMI UG developed a comprehensive master plan for Empower International academy and the construction of phase 1 commenced in 2016. The vision of Empower International Academy is to equip students for a life of integrity, faith and impact by providing a world-class, Christ-centered education that fosters creativity and instills wisdom, love and a desire to serve.
During Phase 2, EMI Uganda conducted a thorough post-occupancy evaluation of Phase 1, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the facilities' functionality and effectiveness in meeting the client's needs. Building upon this evaluation, EMI Uganda proceeded to refine the design of Phase 1 blocks, enhancing their capacity to serve the user’s needs more effectively.
EMI Uganda undertook site planning, architectural design, engineering, and construction management for the expansion project. This included the addition of a classroom block comprising three classrooms, an open-air classroom situated between the new and existing blocks, as well as a three-block girls' dormitory and a three-block boys' dormitory. Each dormitory wing consists of three blocks, housing two dormitory/sleeping areas and a separate toilet block. Within each sleeping block, provisions for toilets and showers have been seamlessly integrated. The design follows a cubicle configuration, with the inclusion of a Sickroom in each block, ensuring convenient access to bathroom facilities.
