Following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Mandalay, Myanmar, EMI deployed an assessment team in two phases to evaluate the structural safety of over 50 damaged buildings—including churches, universities, and residences—and to provide recommendations for repair and retrofit. In addition, training sessions were held in Mandalay and Yangon for approximately 160 architects, engineers, and construction managers. These trainings focused on conducting post-earthquake damage assessments, implementing common repair and retrofit strategies, and promoting “build back safer” principles to support resilient reconstruction and effective community engagement.
