Cyclone Gezani Response for Bethany Hospital, Madagascar
Project Details
Following the landfall of Tropical Cyclone Gezani in Madagascar on 11 February 2026, Bethany Hospital in Tamatave sustained major roof damage that caused widespread water intrusion throughout portions of the facility. In response, EMI provided technical support through comprehensive damage assessments of both the hospital’s leased facility and a building located on its newly acquired property to evaluate their condition and suitability for continued operation. Upon completion of the assessments, EMI delivered a comparative report outlining recommended repairs and retrofit measures for each facility, along with strategies for temporarily relocating the hospital’s existing services to the new property until a permanent hospital can be constructed. The completed project supported informed decision-making for temporary hospital operations and helped identify the most suitable option to safely serve the community during ongoing recovery efforts and future hospital development.
