Early September

West Nairobi School is an International Christian day school for students from kindergarten to high school (12th grade). Their vision is to “create life-long learners by providing an education of excellence founded on Biblical principles”.

The school first opened in September 1996 as a response to providing an affordable, quality, North American Christian education for children from families serving with the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL). In November of this same year, their enrollment doubled as war broke out in Zaire (now the DRC) and families from SIL were evacuated to Nairobi. The school continued to grow and by 2000, they moved to their current existing facility (in the Nairobi western suburb of Karen).

In 2003, the West Nairobi School joined the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS), which operates in 16 countries around the world. The mission of NICS is to establish a worldwide network of international Christian schools staffed by qualified Christian educators, instilling in each student a biblical world-view in an environment of academic excellence and respect for people of all cultures and religions.

Today, the West Nairobi School has 285 students enrolled with a staff of approximately 85. It is due to this continued growth that they have partnered with EMI to develop a plan for expansion. The following phase of growth for the institution is to provide facilities and infrastructure to accommodate 350-400 students along with the required increase in staff.

Project Scope

The EMI team has been invited to assess the existing campus master plan and develop an updated master plan based on the current needs for growth and expansion of the institution. This will include the conceptual design of a Performing Arts Center, an Administration / High School block, and a number of small renovations to existing spaces throughout the campus.

Will you consider joining EMI in partnering with the West Nairobi School to continue to grow their ministry to develop and disciple K-12 students and the impact these students will have throughout the world?
