Christian Medical College (CMC), Ludhiana in Punjab, is a fore-running institution dedicated to training health workers who are committed to meet the needs of the unreached and marginalised in India. Later this year, EMI is coming alongside CMC, to develop a conceptual design for their new Health Sciences Educational Campus.
Following the good relationship built through previous work with their dental college, CMC Ludhiana has requested EMI to design a new improved facility on a 0.45 acre plot of land. The team will creatively navigate the challenging design brief within a relatively small site, whilst keeping within the local bye-law constraints.
The project includes the concept design of new modernised Health Sciences buildings to house instructional facilities such as auditoriums, classrooms, office spaces, and medical college administrative functions. The site will also include the Department of Community Medicine (DCM) and will provide student study spaces with a café, in order to create a comprehensive campus centre.
The design team shall consider today's best practise in terms of functional educational facilities. This will include a thoughtful approach to lecture hall layout for the optimal learning environment. Punjab has hot summers and cold winters, therefore the buildings shall be designed with efficient climate control in mind.
The EMI project team will work closely with CMC leadership to ensure the design meets their needs. Through this, we hope to help CMC advance in their vision; for high-quality health-care education.
2 x Architects needed, preferably with experience in lecture hall design or educational facilities. Knowledge of AV, acoustics, etc. would be helpful but not required.
