EMI is honored to partner with Atomy Co. Ltd to plan a Christ-centered, new city development with a focus on medical education and training.
As Cambodia continues to develop, there is an on-going need for growth in the education and medical sectors throughout rural Cambodia. Rural access to medical care is limited due to the facilities that are available and also professionally trained local staff that are available. Private medical services are sometimes available but often too costly for the average Cambodian seeking medical care.
Atomy Co., Ltd is a South Korean based business with a Chairman that desires to bring greater education and medical opportunities to rural Cambodia after he experienced these same benefits when missionaries initiated medical facilities and schools in Korea. After receiving a donated lease to land in Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia, Atomy is beginning the plans of a dream to bring medical care and education into a city form to serve the Cambodian people. This dream is Atomy EduCity.
The local Atomy Cambodia team has enlisted EMI to begin master planning for an initial 100 HA site. The first phase of development will include the main training hospital, a housing dormitory, and family housing for medical staff. Future phases of the city development involve a church,, a school (K-12), a camp, residential housing, agriculture, vocational school, multipurpose community hall, factory sector, and sports/leisure/water park facility with future planning on adjacent properties.
With the typical challenges of rural development, we seek to develop solutions to the unique infrastructure necessary for the large scale development of Atomy EduCity. We will be working to solve issues related to medical waste, clean water distribution, wastewater disposal, and independent electrical supply.
The main focus of this project will be on the development of the first 100 HA master plan including site utility distribution, and the conceptual layouts of the phase one buildings.
***Due to current travel restrictions, this project will not include a traditional EMI trip. However, we are leveraging the experience and skills of our design professionals around the world and best practices for remote work to bring the Atomy EduCity team the best ideas and concepts EMI has to offer. Together with our local staff in the EMI Cambodia office, we continue to design a world of hope, one project at a time.***
