Uganda Newsletter, December
Dear Friends of EMI Uganda,
Is the Father with us? He is!
Is Christ among us? He is!
Is the Spirit here? He is!
This is our God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
We approach the end of this year testifying to God’s nearness. Truly our God is with us. He is near to EMI as a guide in our strategy, as an inspiration in our excellence, and bringing new life to many.
Strategic Planning
EMI Uganda engaged in long-range strategic planning this year, which yielded fresh direction for our mission. Perhaps most surprising is our newfound commitment to orient, mentor, and mobilise missionally called East Africans for long-term service in other EMI offices. This comes directly from our core value of Diversity, in which we aspire to develop an “all people to all places” flavour to the global mission movement within the vehicle of EMI’s mission, vision and core values. May God stir in the hearts of His people a passion for this!
Continuous Improvement
Alongside our design and construction activities, EMI’s Research & Development Department is ever pushing us toward continuous improvement – inspired by our brilliantly creative Father toward these four anchoring qualifiers:
Sustainable | Affordable | Transformational | Culturally Appropriate
Project by project, we are drawing from R&D’s expertise to improve our delivery of excellent projects through innovation and measurement. One of their most significant leaps this year was to identify cost-saving construction technologies that can have the greatest impact on our projects, saving precious donor dollars without compromising quality, integrity or appropriateness.
New Life
In October EMI’s partner Forgotten Children Worldwide hosted a baptism service in which eight EMI casual workers were baptised!
We marvel at the mysterious work of the Spirit, who removes the scales from our eyes and breathes new life into us, and we count ourselves blessed to bear witness to this miracle. At the same time, we celebrate the faithfulness of EMI’s field project managers and foremen who daily deliver the gospel, in word and in deed, on our construction sites. We trust that He who is near in the waters of baptism is the same One who will walk alongside these young believers in their journey of faith.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support! EMI Uganda would not be what we are without you, and we pray that you too would experience the nearness of the God-made-flesh this Christmas!
Testifying to God’s nearness,
Phil Greene
