This opportunity will allow us to carry out the ministry of EMI through the production of high-quality products and the development and discipleship of the workshop team. The Workshop Project Manager is required to support the operation of the EMI Workshop at Kajjansi Airfield, under the supervision of the Workshop Manager. He/She will help finalize designs from the contract plans and generate shop drawings for approval and fabrication, ensure all drawings match as built dimensions.

Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing industry, including project and business management experience (manufacturing for building construction preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing a metal and/or timber fabrication workshop
  • Practical knowledge of building design and construction
  • Proficient in Excel, Quickbooks, Microsoft Office and MS Project
  • Working understanding of AutoCAD preferred
  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • Ability to build and manage cohesive and effective teams
  • Ability to manage various stakeholders and build productive relationships for innovation
Responsibilities
  • Participate in and support EMI’s discipleship efforts, including mentoring trainees and contributing to staff spiritual life through prayer, devotions, and community practices.
  • Lead the Timber and Steel Fabrication Workshop, ensuring its work reflects EMI’s values and maintains high standards of quality, safety, and service.
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop workshop staff, with support from Human Resources, providing ongoing guidance and performance feedback.
  • Oversee workshop operations from estimating and planning through fabrication, delivery, and installation, ensuring projects are delivered well and on time.
  • Manage project estimates, cost tracking, and production schedules in coordination with EMI Uganda’s construction team.
  • Support the workshop’s growth toward financial sustainability, including improving efficiency, strengthening pricing, and expanding external work.
  • Contribute to business planning, product development, and continuous improvement of workshop processes.
  • Maintain workshop facilities, tools, and equipment to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Coordinate closely with other EMI departments and create opportunities for training and skills development within the workshop.
  • Build partnerships and represent EMI Uganda within the local construction and fabrication industry.
