This opportunity will allow us to carry out the ministry of EMI through the production of high-quality products and the development and discipleship of the workshop team. The Workshop Project Manager is required to support the operation of the EMI Workshop at Kajjansi Airfield, under the supervision of the Workshop Manager. He/She will help finalize designs from the contract plans and generate shop drawings for approval and fabrication, ensure all drawings match as built dimensions.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing or design and construction industry, including project management experience
  • Proficient in AutoCad, Excel, Quickbooks, and MS Project
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing a metal and/or timber fabrication workshop
Responsibilities
  • Spiritual and professional discipleship through EMI’s programmes and opportunities.
  • Manage workshop production services provided by EMI Uganda such that the organization’s core values and standards are intrinsically maintained within our service and our commitments are fulfilled.
  • Oversee the full project cycle feedback loop such that our services are increasingly affordable, efficient, transparent and mission oriented.
  • Manage workshop employee/personnel orientation (supported by HR).
  • Supervise the work of workshop staff, directly supervising Workshop Superintendent, Workshop Assistant, Drafter/Estimator, small projects manager, and workshop trainees and ensure sufficient support and spiritual and professional development for each one.
  • Develop and manage project estimates and agreements, outlining the responsibilities for the workshop and its staff
  • Estimate, procure and manage the treatment and storage of materials.
  • Manage the transportation of products to the building sites and manage/oversee on-site installations as needed/coordinated with EMI construction managers.
  • Manage/oversee the design and drafting of fabrication drawings, in coordination with EMI Uganda’s engineers/architects, as well as providing cost estimates to EMI construction teams.
  • Maintain workshop facilities, equipment, and assets as EMI Uganda funding allows, ensuring safe and effective operations
  • Determine product pricing based upon a sustainable model of minimizing workshop expenses while adequately providing for workshop employees/personnel and setting an industry standard for well-crafted/assembled products (referencing the Workshop Business Plan).
  • Implement department goals, in collaboration with supervisor, that advance EMI Uganda’s mission and align with its strategic goals.
  • Provide opportunities within the production workshop for the professional and spiritual development of employees and contract workers as well as opportunities for internships, apprenticeships and other training programs.
