EMI Uganda is seeking a structural engineer who has experience designing with EN 1998 (Eurocode 8) to help with structural reviews.

EMI UG is occasionally asked to review designs from other consultants in seismic regions of East Africa and beyond – these designs are often in accordance with EN 1998. There is currently a working design knowledge of other Eurocodes within the office, but there is a lack of experience designing to EN 1998.

EMI UG is seeking individuals willing to provide remote reviews of these designs. This may include:

  • Review of design documentation.
  • Follow-up comments with the team in EMI UG, via email and video-conference.
  • Training EMI staff in key aspects of design to EN 1998.
  • Making a short-term visit to the EMI office location to make the connection personal.

This volunteering opportunity would be on an as-needed basis.
