Move Locally, Impact Globally

Have you ever found hope in a place? When we're sick, we find hope in medical clinics. When we're isolated, we find hope in public gathering places. When we're vulnerable, we find hope in facilities designed to meet our needs and provide healing. Often, we take these places of hope for granted; places that, in some contexts, simply aren't available or accessible.

EMI exists to bring hope through design, so that more people around the world have access to these places of hope. Empowered by a network of EMI supporters like you, we work with local ministry partners around the globe to deliver professional design services in the name of Christ.

Does this sound like a story you'd like to help write?
If so, don't miss being part of the EMI Canada Ride for Refuge 2021, a fun and flexible fundraising event happening this fall. You may already be supporting an EMI staff member (thank you!), and this is away to extend your support even further.

Don't let the name 'Ride for Refuge' fool you - the Ride is about more than just biking. With the Freetyle activity option, participants can choose from a long list of activities. From baking to biking, crocheting to climbing, reading to running, there's something for everyone. Participants can self-organize in teams or as individuals, and complete their chosen activities whenever and wherever it suits them.

We love the flexibility this event offers - you choose what you do and when you do it - anytime before, leading up to, or on October 2.

When you participate in the EMI Canada Ride for Refuge, your fundraising supports the EMI Fund, which lays the groundwork for all that EMI does to equip and mobilize design professionals as they serve ministries and transform lives around the globe.  Visit our website to see the impact your fundraising can have.

This option is for you if you'd like to participate as an individual, wherever you are. When you choose this option, you'll register as part of Team EMI, select an activity of your choice, collect donations, and complete your activity on or leading up to Saturday, October 2.

Make the Ride for Refuge your own! It's not just about riding bikes. The Freestyle event format opens up a wide range of activities you can choose from. Click here to view the options.

This option is for you if you'd like to recruit a group of family or friends to form a team. You will captain your team, which includes keeping your teammates informed and inspired, and organizing completion of your team's chosen activity or activities.

You may organize your team in one of several ways:

Everyone does the same thing, one-time activity. Maybe you'd like to complete a favorite local hike, tackle a boardgame marathon, or cycle a favorite local route. You may gather as a group to complete your activity, abiding by your local guidelines around COVID restrictions.

Everyone does the same thing over a period of time, to reach a team goal. Set a goal as a team and work toward reaching or beating it by October 2. This is a great option for teams that are spread out geographically or whose schedules don't align. Your team might set a goal around cycling, climbing, walking, running, reading, arts & crafts, baking, gaming, or whatever you can dream up!

Everyone does different activities. Maybe you've got a particular group of family or friends in mind, but they all have different interests. This is your chance to get everyone involved across age groups, fitness levels, and interests. Create your team and see who chooses what!

Whichever way you choose to structure your team, make the Ride for Refuge your own! It's not just about riding bikes. The Freestyle event format opens up a wide range of activities you can choose from. Click here to view the options.

*Make sure you link your team to EMI Canada for fundraising purposes. Once you create your team, you'll be provided with a team page. This is what you will use to recruit your team members and keep track of your team's fundraising progress.

Your partnership will go a long way to encourage a team member and to support EMI Canada's ongoing work of delivering hope through professsional design services. Every dollar counts!
