Introducing Faith + Work local events! If you are in the San Diego area, we want to connect with you.

As a design professional, you have seen the power of design to transform lives…for better or for worse. Every day at EMI we have the privilege to partner with ministries across the world who are actively transforming communities through healthcare, education, clean water, and so many other ways. We partner with these ministries to provide the technical expertise needed to design their hospitals, schools, water systems and so much more.

No matter where the Lord has placed you, you can make a difference every day. EMI’s Faith + Work gathering will provide you with the tools and inspiration needed to make an impact in the marketplace and around the world as we share these stories of God’s work and where design and mission intersect.

Join us in San Diego on April 19th to connect with other Christian design professionals, engage with EMI staff, and learn how you can be involved!

John Dallmann. With advanced degrees in Civil Engineering (MS, CU Boulder) and World Christianity (MA, Denver Seminary), John and his wife Gala served as missionaries in Ethiopia, Cameroon, and Niger over a 20-year period doing everything from community water development to leading field offices, planting churches, and raising their five children on the field.  John is currently the CEO/President of EMI and Gala often travels with him to the various offices of EMI to encourage and support the staff.  With six grandchildren, they both love to hike, work in the yard, study God’s Word, and hang out with friends.  They are excited about being a part of what God is doing in and through EMI to restore people to Himself.

Ellery Walker. After completing her architecture degree at the University of Michigan in 2017, Ellery interned with EMI Uganda where she developed an interest in the relationship between design, international development, and global health. This led her to pursue a Masters in City & Regional Planning and a Masters in Public Health. In 2021, God opened the door for her to return to EMI as a Master Planning Fellow in the South Africa and USA offices. She considers it a privilege to have the opportunity to use her gifts, training, and experience to be part of designing a healthier and more hope-filled world. Ellery enjoys running, sampling the best ice cream and local chocolate, and cheering on Michigan football from wherever in the world she may be.

Jorge Aguero.  After graduating with a B. Arch degree, Jorge also earned a THD in Bible School. Jorge then worked for different architecture/building firms in the state of Baja California, Mexico, and served with a couple of local Christian NGO's in various projects, building sustainable change in Mexico through responsible design and construction.  Jorge met his wife Gilda in college and married in August 2013; the Lord has blessed them with two boys, Mateo (7) and Bruno (3).  They first came to know EMI during their time in Bible school. Jorge participated in three project trips as a volunteer before finally joining the Nicaragua office in September 2018.  Jorge served as staff architect with EMI Nicaragua (2018 - 2020), and is now director of the EMI Mexico office in Ensenada.

Brad Crawford joined EMI in 2007 after 12 years of private practice structural engineering in Oregon and California.  Brad, his wife of 28 years, Alisha, and their three grown sons (Brodie, Jonah, and Graysen) have worked out of four EMI offices – Uganda (2008-2010), UK (2012-2014), USA (2010-2012) and Global (2014-present).  Brad is currently Chief Operating Officer of EMI as well as the North America Regional Director, working at EMI's Global Office in Colorado Springs.  In his spare time, Brad enjoys mountain biking with Alisha and the boys, going on walks/hikes with Alisha, and playing soccer in the local outdoor men's league.  Big fans of Oregon Ducks football and Manchester United soccer, their whole family now also roots for LeTourneau University Men's Soccer where Graysen plays!

Matthew Coffey. Born in Chicago, Matthew spent over 15 years in India serving with EMI. With a BSCE from Illinois Institute of Technology, Matthew has worked as a Structural Engineer or Project Leader or staff coach on over 50 EMI projects and was EMI’s India Office Director for 12 years. He now serves on EMI's Global team as Regional Director for Latin America as well as Communications Director. He and his wife Ivy, an Architect from Hong Kong, were married in India in 2007. The Coffeys and their two boys, Sean and Nevin, live in Colorado Springs where they enjoy hiking, camping, and exploring the beautiful mountains. Matthew prefers being on a bicycle - whether riding to office on his ebike conversion or enjoying a quiet singletrack with his hardtail.

Gary MacPhee.  Before joining EMI in 1996, Gary had directed Architectural Services at the the University of Buffalo, owned his own consulting company, and concurrently studied through Elim Bilble Institute and was licensed in ministry.  In his nearly 28 years with EMI, he has led 50 design teams in over 40 countries, and served for many of those years as EMI's Vice President of Human Resources and Ministry Development and the Global Director of Recruiting.  Gary and his wife of 40 years, Judylynn, have 3 children and their 7th grandchild is coming in July.  Gary often quotes Thomas Jefferson: "Architecture is my delight, and putting up and pulling down one of my favorite amusements."  Today, as an engagement representative for EMI and an author and speaker,  Gary is singularly focused on developing people, helping you in your journey of  "Finding Your Fit in God's Plan to Reach the World."
