Nicaragua, affectionately known as the land of lakes and volcanoes, is a Spanish-speaking country located in Central America. Its tropical climate brings with it an abundance of fauna and flora and is a wonderful place to experience and appreciate the beauty of creation! As an intern with EMI Nicaragua, we encourage you to get out and explore in your free time.

The EMI Nicaragua office is located in the capital city, Managua. During your internship, you will live with a local Nicaraguan family. Having a basis in Spanish is highly desirable to aid communication with your host family and colleagues. The homestay set up allows you the opportunity to practice and develop language skills and to learn about Nicaraguan culture and customs as well as to eat lots of good traditional Nicaraguan food!

When you arrive in the office you will take part in orientation before getting started on projects. You will have the opportunity to work alongside both local and expat staff on a range of interesting Kingdom-building projects. You will have the opportunity to develop your professional skills as you help with the designs of the projects you are working on. You will also participate in and lead devotions and receive 1:1 discipleship.

The projects for next year are yet to be confirmed but it is our hope that you would have the opportunity to participate in a project trip, either within Nicaragua or in another country in Latin America. Recent projects in the office have worked with Christian schools, therapy centres for children with physical and learning difficulties, bible training institutes and orphanages.

¡Le esperamos!
