Mid-July to Early-December

Interns in the Uganda office enjoy a rich, cross-cultural, communal living experience. Each morning, you will walk about 10 minutes down a narrow dirt road from the intern house to the EMI office. You will be sharing your living space with like-minded interns who are just beginning their careers.

While specific projects for this term have not been confirmed yet, our most common projects involve the planning, design, and construction of schools, universities, hospitals, clinics, churches, children’s homes, and community centers. Most of the projects we work on are within Uganda, but we are also involved with projects throughout East Africa.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team of experienced architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, surveyors, and construction managers, giving you the valuable opportunity to learn disciplines other than your own and participate in various stages of the design process.

We offer our ministry partners comprehensive construction management and design services. Working in the Uganda office means you will have the opportunity to visit active construction projects and provide design support to our construction managers.

Uganda, affectionately called "The Pearl of Africa", is a relatively easy country to travel within, and you will have the opportunity to explore. Previous interns have enjoyed hiking, safaris, climbing volcanoes, camping, visiting co-workers at their family homes, taking overnight buses to Kenya, and becoming involved in the local community.
