Cambodia is in the midst of rapid development and urbanization with a young and growing church. Petram also has a specific focus to cultivate all staff to be influential leaders in their homes, churches, and communities.
Our designs and office culture is richly defined by our team diverse in nationalities, disciplines, and job experience. A project leader at EMI Cambodia will be involved in leading multicultural multi-discipline teams. EMI project leaders must be able to interact and effectively communicate with diverse clients from small local ministries to international NGOs. With guidance from our local staff, we incorporate traditional and local design and construction practices into modern, accessible, and code compliant concepts and designs. EMI project leaders need to navigate local language and culture to provide appropriate designs while remaining cost effective for our ministry clients. Project leaders will join in the professional mentoring of our young Cambodian and International design professionals.
In addition to the typical EMI Staff / Associate Staff prerequisites, candidates for this position must have:
- Willing and able to relocate to Cambodia and learn the Khmer language (min. 6 months).
- BS in Architecture, Engineering or Construction-related field with 15+ years of relevant experience, 20+ years preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor others and lead multi-discipline design teams.
- Experience in building design aspects will be most beneficial but the position will also oversee teams working in infrastructure, construction oversight and WASH.
- Proficient in programs such as: Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook, Power Point, and AutoCAD.
The following are essential responsibilities for this position:
- Spiritual and professional discipleship through EMI’s programmes and opportunities.
- Oversee the design team in the office which covers the majority of the office services
- This person serves in the office's executive leadership team and report to the Office Director.
- Support department leads in recruiting new team members absed on need.
- Lead multicultural and multidisciplinary teams professionally and spiritually.
- Coordinate designs so that it is correct, to the appropriate level of detail, and completed on-schedule.
- Encourage and counsel staff and clients in the design and construction process.
- Travel domestically or internationally 2-3 times a year for 3-14 days at a time for project work.
