To carry out the ministry of EMI through coordinating WASH community development and implementation projects, providing discipline specific engineering support, and mentoring local staff, constituents, and interns.
This is an EMI employed staff position who will be seconded to the Sustainable Development Program (SDP) for technical, administrative, and management support in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea.
Salary Range: $5,000 - $6,000 USD per month.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering License (civil, environmental, geotechnical, other).
- 5-10 years’ practical work experience in WASH.
- Technical expertise in water and sanitation system design and construction.
- Experience with WASH promotion methods and behavior change techniques such as Community Led Total Sanitation.
- Experience in project or staff management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical writing experience required.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Project management tool experience preferred (scheduling, workflow, etc.).
- Ability to engage local church and ministry leaders.
- Understanding and participation in EMI vision, mission, and core values.
- Working knowledge of English required
- Humility to learn from and adapt to local knowledge, practices, and values where appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Represent EMI in community and stakeholder engagement for WASH services.
- Develop and perform participatory assessments to determine WASH needs and solutions.
- Provide technical support for EMI WASH projects including scope definition, preliminary research, design consultation, quality control design review, installation support, and onsite inspections.
- Perform design, analysis, and oversight for civil infrastructure projects, particularly related to water and sanitation systems, including pressurized and gravity flow piped water distribution, water treatment, well construction, wastewater disposal, latrines, etc.
- Perform onsite reviews of EMI WASH project activities including design, installation, and implementation phases.
- Participate, support, and lead WASH training activities, including technical topics for system operation and maintenance as well as non-technical topics for system management, and hygiene promotion.
