Our designs and office culture is richly defined by our team diverse in nationalities, disciplines, and job experience. An MEP engineer at EMI Cambodia will be very involved in the professional mentoring of our young Cambodian staff. Often including the traditional local design components with modern ideas, EMI engineers need to navigate local materials to provide appropriate designs while remaining cost effective for our ministry clients.
In addition to the typical EMI Staff / Associate Staff prerequisites, candidates for this position must have:
- Willing and able to relocate to Cambodia and learn the Khmer language.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in MEP engineering.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in AutoCAD.
- Able to work in a cross cultural context.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, able to work well under pressure, and maintain schedules.
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability, highly proficient in organisation and planning.
The following are essential responsibilities for this position:
- Spiritual and professional discipleship through EMI’s programmes and opportunities.
- Provide engineering calculations, designs, and reports that are culturally appropriate, sustainable, affordable and transformational for clients in line with professional guidelines.
- Prepare mechanical, electrical, and plumbing documents and drawings using software, including technical drawings, material specifications, and bills of quantities.
- Ability to work on a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary, diverse team.
- Travel domestically and/or internationally to project sites to collect data, survey, or monitor construction project. Travel may require overnight stays in basic accommodations. Approximately 10-16 days of travel per year is anticipated.
