The EMI UK Intern Coordinator is responsible for mobilising interns from the UK to join EMI’s global Internship Programme. They will work as part of the EMI UK team, and in partnership with the EMI Global Office, to process applications from prospective candidates and mobilise successful applicants to their office of assignment.

The Intern Coordinator will provide member care to mobilised interns - supporting them throughout their time at EMI and debriefing them on their return to the UK.

Qualifications

In addition to the typical EMI Staff prerequisites, it would be preferable if candidates for this role had:

  • Previous experience with EMI, ideally as an intern.
Responsibilities
  1. Intern hiring
  • Responding to interest regarding the intern programme.
  • Vetting and responding to pre-applications.
  • Processing full applications; interviewing and recommending candidates to enter the global pool of prospective interns.
  • Working with the GO Early Career Programmes HR Manager to assign candidates to a suitable office.
  1. Intern mobilisation
  • Administering necessary paperwork.
  • Ensuring safeguarding and security training compliance.
  • Budget-setting in conjunction with the office of assignment. MPD coaching and support. Co-ordinating transfer of funds between offices.
  • Conducting location-specific Risk Assessments for each internship and ensuring project trips organised by the office of assignment are suitably risk-assessed.
  • Co-ordinating with interns and their office of assignment regarding travel plans and visa requirements.
  1. Intern member care
  • Communicating throughout the term to ensure interns are well supported, including conducting mid-term debriefs.
  • Supporting interns through any issues or crises that may arise.
  • Debriefing interns after their return to the UK.
  1. Other
  • Working closely with the rest of the EMI UK team, including participating in regular discipleship activities.
  • Working with the EMI UK Safeguarding Coordinator as a Safeguarding Deputy (Interns).
  • Maintaining up-to-date intern records on EMI’s database.
