Jeff Austin

BSCE Civil Engineering (2001) from Northwestern University and MS Civil Engineering - Structures (2002) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri and Georgia. Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois. Prior to joining EMI, Jeff worked for over 8 years at a structural consulting firm in Saint Louis, MO where he designed residential structures, schools, church additions, and light commercial buildings. He also did assessments and evaluations of existing structures. Since joining EMI in 2012, Jeff has had various roles within the Uganda office including project leading, structural design, construction administration, and recruiting. In 2018, Jeff began work at EMI-USA where he developed and piloted the Fellowship Programme. As EMI USA's Deputy Director of Mobilization, he overseeing recruiting and onboarding of new staff and member care for our expatriated staff. Jeff also oversees the intern and fellowship programs at EMI USA. Jeff also serves as curriculum coordinator for the worldwide fellowship program and leads EMI's commissioning program.
Ministry Experience
After University, Jeff interned in Guatemala as a construction manager and also volunteered on EMI trips to Guatemala, South Africa, and Rwanda. Together, Jeff and Jennifer attended Covenant Seminary in Saint Louis, MO where Jennifer received her Master’s in Counseling and Jeff received a Certificate in World Mission. While in Saint Louis, Jeff and Jennifer were part of launching a multi-cultural church plant in the city. While in Uganda, Jeff and Jennifer were grateful for opportunities to disciple and mentor within EMI, through their church, and with the personal relationships that they developed. Jeff also loves to lead others in worship with his guitar.
Family
Jeff has been married to Jennifer since 2003. They are blessed with 4 children – Mercy, Haven, Isaac and Benja.
