When we began the Life Resource Centre project in January of this year, we had no way of knowing it would be interrupted by a global pandemic. What we thought to be a fairly straight-forward design/build project became much more complicated when, after weeks of design and construction, all work came to a full stop for several months as India went on a country-wide lockdown.
By God’s grace, construction resumed in June. I worked long-distance with the EMI team to finalize the selection of various finishes, and oversee the construction and installation of in-built furniture. We were creative with our use of pictures, videos, and sketches to accurately communicate design intentions when physical proximity wasn’t possible. With great excitement (and relief!), the project was commissioned with a small gathering and ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 24th.
Throughout this project, our team has seen God’s protection (not a single Covid-19 case in our project team or the on-site labourers), His sovereignty (His ways and timing are different than ours.), and His goodness (a completed project).
It was a joy to be able to join the team and client ministry via Zoom for the dedication service. It will be an even greater joy to return to Delhi and see the finished space full of young adults eager to learn life skills from a ministry that is eager to invest in their hearts and minds.
