Water Distribution Concept Design

EMI was asked to assist Samaritan’s Purse (SP) with their Oasis 2 WASH project in Moung Russei, Cambodia. SP has been working with many villages in the Moung Russei area to provide piped water to households. Many of the villages in this area rely on walking to the nearest creek or pond to collect water to fill their large clay pots that are typically used for rainwater collection and water storage throughout Cambodia’s countryside. Reliable water will allow families to increase the livlihoods and health of their family.

EMI worked with SP to improve their well design, provide structural design for the concrete water tank stands, and designed the water distribution layouts for six villages. EMI also worked with SP to assess two privately owned water treatment companies who SP will partner with to provide water to some of SP’s target villages where wells are not viable. From these assessments, EMI provided recommendations for improvements and designed the extension of the water distribution network.

EMI provided the design, Samaritan's Purse provided the training and support to the local villagers in construction and maintenance.
