Lighthouse Church

True Light Ministries in southern Orissa desired an architecturally significant centerpiece for their 2 acre campus. The EMI designed meeting hall was constructed to meet this purpose.  

The 500 seat auditorium has a raised floor level and long overhangs helps to keep out driving rain while still allowing natural light and breezes.  The use of non-parallel interior walls, perforated ‘jali’ walls and good audio systems would help to minimize acoustic issues in the sanctuary.  Exposed aggregate, heavy textured exterior walls and concrete roof require low maintenance.  Because of the sloping site, the sanctuary steps down in three locations to improve site lines toward the stage.  It accommodates 500 people in chair seating.
