Celebrating Clarke Means' 10 years of Service to EMI

EMI Uganda,

While many folks express surprise that Clarke didn’t come to EMI from an architecture or engineering background, none will challenge Clarke’s perfect fit among us and depth of contribution to our mission!

In 2013, Clarke and Erin were called out of private consultancies and lay church ministry in Florida, USA, to the work and mission of EMI Uganda. Their children, Charlotte and Liam, were only babies back then, and we have seen them grow up in our midst, bearing the marks of multi-cultural missional living that that their parents model for us all so well.

In the past 10 years, Clarke has served in a variety of pivotal roles for EMI Uganda – business development, finance manager, operations manager, and currently as Deputy Director Operations. Clarke is steady, faithful, consistent, and level-headed.

He can be counted on for insightful critical thinking as well as compassionate care for the people of EMI. He has demonstrated remarkable self-sacrifice in the service of others and offers wisdom and discernment in abundance!

Erin has blessed EMI Uganda with her expertise in graphic design over the years, and together they have served the EMI community with gracious hospitality – orienting, hosting, counseling, and serving the diverse and dynamic people of EMI Uganda.

Thank you for your faithful service and friendship, Clarke!

Celebrating Jonathan's 10 years of service to EMI

EMI Global,

When Jonathan came to EMI ten years ago as a single man to help the EMI India team make the transition from a mountain town to the megacity of Delhi, he probably didn’t know what he was getting into. His faithfulness, diligence, and honesty smoothed and enabled that transition, and he brought order to the office adminstration and finances.

Jonathan himself has grown in the unique culture of EMI, and on that journey he’s married Preeti and is now a proud father to two young children, Liya and Ethan.

In 2019, Jonathan transitioned from his role with EMI India to be the IT Manager for EMI Global. It is in this role that Jonathan’s passion for IT, computers, and servers has become evident.  His attention to detail and persevering nature has allowed him to overcome any challenge thrown at him as he manages to keep EMI’s IT system up and running.  As a worldwide organization with a heavy reliance on technology to complete our project designs, we are especially grateful for Jonathan and his expertise in IT to accomplish our mission and vision.

We’re so thankful for the investment in time and relationship that this family has made into the ministry of EMI. Thank you Jonathan!

Celebrating Jason Chandler's 10 Years of Service to EMI

EMI United States,

Jason Chandler was appointed to join EMI staff in February 2012 and moved to Colorado Springs to serve as EMI USA's WASH Manager in 2013.  For years, Jason served as the office's only civil engineer and he likely spent more time providing technical guidance to master plan water and wastewater system designs than working toward his vision to pioneer EMI's role as a leader in large, complex WASH implementation programs.

All that changed in 2020 when EMI was given the opportunity to take a leadership role in the $20 million rural Alaska WASH program - the largest grant EMI has ever been given.  Through this program, along with the major DRR shelter improvement program in Haiti and continued support of master plan projects, Jason has led EMI USA through an incredible expansion of civil engineering and WASH staff growth.  He's also worked with EMI staff around the world to update the Civil Design Guide and hold periodic civil/WASH team collaboration calls.  It is an understatement to say that we are incredibly thankful for Jason's passionate pursuit of EMI's growth in the WASH sector.

In addition to Jason's technical skill, tenacity, and leadership in civil and WASH, he also has some other great passions and abilities.  He roasts delicious coffee, is an amazing worship leader, and loves all things outdoors including hunting and fishing.

We are incredibly thankful for Jason and his wife, Sarah.  They serve at EMI and in their community with joy and great intentionality.  They are also raising four really cool children named James, Will, Josh and Lyla. It is a real joy to celebrate Jason's 10 year anniversary at EMI.  We are honored by his pursuit of his faith and calling to serve God and His Kingdom through EMI.
