Hannah Arensen

Landscape Architectural Designer, EMI Uganda

Joined EMI January 2021

Professional Training & Experience

After graduating university in 2016, Hannah moved to the DC Metro area where she worked in the private sector, gaining experience in multi-family housing, affordable housing renovation, public park and campus design. Her community design work, school campus design and sustainable stormwater management experience fueled her passion for creating spaces that promote healthy communities and ecosystems. She joined the EMI Uganda office in 2021 where she works alongside the architecture and civil departments designing meaningful campuses for our ministry partners.

Ministry Experience

Hannah gave her life to Christ at a young age and has participated in different volunteer ministry roles over the years, specifically in the arts. She was a leader in campus ministry during university, and she and her husband Bruce served on the worship and production teams at their previous church. Hannah has a passion for discipleship and has led multiple small groups over the years. She is grateful that through EMI she can walk with others as they grow in their faith and use her professional skillset to help ministries fulfill their calling. She is continually encouraged by all that God is doing through EMI's ministry partners, and is honored to be a part of this kingdom-building work.

Family

Hannah and Bruce met on a missions trip in South Africa in 2013 and were married in 2016. From the beginning they knew that God was calling them to use their vocations in a cross-cultural, missional context and are grateful that they both can work for EMI Uganda. They are expecting their first child in 2023.
