Important message about the COVID-19 Coronavirus

In an effort to care for all of our personnel, families, and mission around the world, EMI has been taking a number of steps in response to the progress of COVID-19.

Location-specific Crisis Management Teams are now in place to monitor COVID developments, inform, and care for EMI personnel. All official EMI travel (including project travel) has been cancelled or postponed and no new travel plans are being prepared until further notice. EMI’s worldwide offices are in varying states of closure with personnel working remotely or from home as they are able.

We continue to actively monitor the situation and will respond to new information affecting our worldwide ministry and teams. We view the COVID-19 Coronavirus an opportunity to live out the gospel and our faith in Jesus through the ministry of EMI.

Professional Training & Experience

Jon began his engineering career at George Fox University before finishing his studies at Colorado State University with a Bachelors and Master in Civil Engineering.  After graduating, Jon worked in the consulting engineering field for 15 years.  His experience ranged from simple flood control plans for small family owned companies to multi-million dollar hydraulic structure design for large international firms.  In 2014 Jon and his family joined EMI to help launch the Nicaragua office.

Ministry Experience

Mid engineering career, Jon and his wife Wanda were called into full time youth ministry.  For seven years, they served in two churches to help build and develop youth ministry programs.  Since returning to the engineering field, Jon has been actively involved as a deacon and elder, leading small groups, and helping out with youth programs.

Family

Jon and Wanda have been married since 1994 and have three children, Matthew (1999), Joanna (2001), and Rachel (2005).  Their family loves camping, fishing, biking, hiking - most things that involve the outdoors, and experiencing Gods creation.  They have found God's presence in each and every turn that their lives and their family have made, and are excited to see how God will lead in the years to come.
