After graduating from OSU, Laura worked for Weyerhaeuser as an engineer in the residential wood products division.  It was through this position and serving as a volunteer with EMI on a project in Kenya that Laura became interested in furthering her education in structural engineering.  Laura returned to school to study architectural engineering with an emphasis in structures.  Laura completed an internship with EMI in Guatemala while attending graduate school and then worked for LA Fuess Partners in Dallas prior to moving back to Colorado to be near family and joining EMI’s staff a few years later.

Ministry Experience

A summer spent living in Italy with her missionary aunt and uncle and involvement in a church college group in Oregon was foundational for Laura becoming more involved in ministry.  Since her first experience with EMI in 2003, Laura believed she would one day be in full-time ministry with EMI.  While working in the building industry, Laura was always involved in some sort of ministry, from mentoring middle school girls, to serving breakfast to the homeless of Austin each week, to leading in a young adult’s church group.  All of these ministry roles helped prepare Laura for ministry with EMI.

Family

Laura and Wesley met on an EMI project trip in Peru in 2011.  Their friendship blossomed and they married in 2015, just after Laura joined EMI staff full-time.  Laura and Wesley welcomed their daughter Camille in 2017. The Trimbles live near Pike National Forest in Palmer Lake, CO and enjoy hiking and playing outdoors as often as possible.
