EMI is honored to provide facility assessment and master planning for 4 of MBF's hospital campuses located in Malawi, to aid in their mission of training up local surgeons and doctors to provide hope and healing for the poor around the globe. In Part I of our engagement, we will visit 1-2 hospital sites to assess the current facilities and collect programmatic vision and goals, in order to provide recommendations which will bring affinity across the facilities and increased functionality to the program.

Project Scope

The EMI team will visit the hospital campus(es) (spending approximately 6 days at each campus) to engage with program directors and participants capturing the vision and goals of the programs for use in assessing the current facilities and future needs. Specifically the team will need to identify deficiencies in engineering systems, programmatic functionality, and spatial layout as it relates the environment of care and local and international building standards, MBF standards, and PAACS training facility requirements.

In addition, the team will develop a phased master plan for each facility with recommended growth goals identified during the visioning sessions with the program leaders. These master plan will incorporate specific facility findings, as well as system-wide recommendations and conceptual layouts to bring affinity to the facilities and support the mission of MBF programs across the system.

The scope will not include detailed as-built drawings of current facilities, but rather will focus on overall facility assessment and master planning. The anticipated delivery of report and supporting documents is early August, 2022.
