It is a privilege to continue our partnership with Bongolo Hospital on the maternity redesign and master plan update. We are excited about the hospital’s ongoing vision to see God glorified as people are healed, saved, equipped, and sent. Bongolo Hospital plays a vital role in reaching the lost in Gabon by providing compassionate, professional medical care to all in need, while also equipping Christian medical professionals to extend this vision throughout Africa.
Project Scope
The scope of this project will be to relocate and redesign the maternity building in a location acceptable to all stakeholders. This will include developing an updated master plan and making revisions to associated infrastructure systems—water, wastewater, and electrical. As part of the civil engineering design, there will likely also be a need for new road access to the maternity facility.
The project team will recommend appropriate phasing and sequencing for the updated master plan and work closely with the staff and leadership at Bongolo Hospital to develop both the master plan update and the conceptual architectural design for the new maternity building at its new site location.
We are planning to mobilize a team of EMI staff and several volunteers to Gabon in late January or early February 2026 for an approximately two-week trip. During this time, the team will meet with hospital leadership and staff to advance the designs for the new maternity facility and master plan for the campus.
