Come join us in the culturally rich town of San Pablo Villa de Mitla as we assist two churches and two ministries! Three of the four project sites are located within just a few blocks of each other. The vision for this project trip is to complete four smaller designs or analyses for these ministries, rather than a typical single EMI design project. This will be a great opportunity to see what God is doing in southern Mexico through these ministries and to experience several different types of EMI’s services all in one trip.

Project Scope

Our team will work on the following four projects. Depending on your discipline, you'll contribute more closely to certain projects during the trip.

El Buen Samaritano Church
We will be providing a property survey and conceptual church design for this church in the town of Xaaga, about a 10-minute drive from the three sites listed below. The property currently only contains the pastor’s home, and the congregation is looking to further develop the property so they can gather and worship together in their own church building.

Koinonia Church
This existing church is seeking a shade structure design for their children’s outdoor play area. We'll be attending and participating in this church's service on the Sunday of the project trip.

Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) Campus
This large Bible translation campus has needs related to improving its well water and distribution systems, as well as addressing structural damage caused by recent earthquakes. We will be providing a report addressing both of these needs.

Audio Scripture Ministries (“Que Todos Oigan” in Spanish)
This ministry helps connect people to God’s Word in their own heart language by recording and distributing the Bible and other resources in audio format. We will be providing a report with analysis and recommendations regarding structural damage and deteriorating building materials for their ministry office.

San Pablo Villa de Mitla is located about one hour southeast of the city of Oaxaca, in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. One of the unique aspects of Mitla is seeing multiple ministries, churches, and Christian schools located in close proximity to one another and working together in ministry — which is what makes a project trip like this possible.
