Framing the Mission

Canada Newsletter, January 2025

“Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing,” ~ Isaiah, 43:18-19 NRSV

Happy New Year!

Over the past year, we’ve written extensively about how EMI Canada is building the foundation for future growth. Our team expanded with the addition of Ryan Williams as International Projects Coordinator. This expansion enabled us to serve with Fundación Pachamama’s Ikiama Nukuri maternal and neonatal health program to design a birthing house and maternal education facility in Ecuador, addressing critical health needs (read the full story here).

As architects and engineers, we know that for a structure to be considered good, building upon a solid foundation is of fundamental importance. This best practice is described by Jesus in the book of Matthew in the parable of the house built on the rock. And is why EMI Canada—our programs, our administration, our staff—is built upon the foundation of Jesus Himself.

As construction design professionals, we also know that a foundation does not make for a finished structure or project.

An EMI Canada project team will travel to Uganda on Jan. 31, 2025 to serve with Bless The Children Ministries to work on a Secondary School Campus Master Plan in Western Uganda.

As we head into 2025, confident in our foundation, we are excited to announce our first project of the year in Uganda. Our project team will serve Bless the Children Ministries to develop a secondary school campus master plan. As our team prepares for this trip, it’s time for EMI Canada as an organization to take the next step: to Frame the Mission.

As a structure is framed, its purpose comes into focus. The rooms, spaces, and vision are defined. This year, our goal is to increase our project capacity by adding another international project leader and growing our community of volunteers for both international and domestic projects. As EMI Canada continues to grow in capacity, staff, projects, and community in 2025, a sturdy frame needs to be built to, define and shape our service to meet the needs of our client ministries and community of supporters to fulfill our calling to design a world of hope.

We invite you to join us on this journey to Frame the Mission in 2025. Every master plan and project reflects God’s redemptive work—restoring communities, creating spaces where people thrive, and faith grows. By joining with us, you’re not just supporting design; you’re helping to frame futures, restore hope, and build lasting capacity around the world for generations to come.
