Celebrating John Agee's 10 years of service with EMI

EMI Global,

After discovering and volunteering with EMI, he joined the US Office with a desire to see EMI grow in West Africa.  Since then he has been a part of over 30 project trips, with the majority in West Africa and leading 14. John was instrumental in launching a new EMI office in Senegal in 2016.

For those of you who privileged to know and work with John, you will appreciate his passion for cross-cultural ministry, travel and cuisine.  It is hard to keep up with John's shirts from all over Africa and he loves to cook traditional dishes from the continent, preferably in large quantities and with lots of hot spices!  More than that, John has a desire to collaborate with local design professionals and EMI projects have hugely benefitted from his many friendships of engineers and architects in West Africa.  John stepped out in faith in 2014 to attend language school in Paris where he met his future wife Céline.  The Agee’s welcomed baby Luka back in December 2019.

John, thank you for your friendship and commitment to EMI – we are looking forward to the next 10 years!

Celebrating Maggie McNeil's 15 years of service with EMI

EMI Global,

Maggie McNeil traveled to Uganda 15 years ago with the intent to be a support for her family who had moved to Uganda a year or so before. Within 3 months of this move, she was convinced that God wanted her to stay longer than she had initially planned, eventually even becoming a citizen. Over the next several years, Maggie’s service with the EMI Uganda office has evolved to include initial assessment of volunteer housing, office administration; reviewing and updating local transportation resources; recruiting, supervisory and training roles; and being the office Jaja (Grandmother). Her favorite and long-standing role within EMI Uganda has been in the care and keeping of our interns and guests. Maggie has often been the first welcome for new interns and has carried out the housing orientation for the fresh faced and jet-lagged, keeping an eye on sick interns and sternly instructing the overstrained to take care of themselves.

Here’s to and in appreciation of Maggie, who continues to be a blessing to EMI.
