Hurricane Dorian Update - 17 Sept 2019

EMI United States,

Thanks to the efforts of EMI's Jason and Chance, the Emergency Field Hospital is up and running now and seeing about 140 patients per day. Jason is currently working on having water treated for both the hospital and for the local community. He also set up a second treatment system in another region of Grand Bahama for a medical clinic and community. Coordination with Port Authority to bring in a large reverse osmosis unit is currently underway. This will allow water to be filtered and trucked to more rural areas of Grand Bahama.

This response will continue to be a large effort. If you are a civil engineer, please consider offering your time and deploying with us. Please email disasters@emiworld.org with your interest.

If you can't go, consider giving to the EMI Fund that helps us respond to disasters world wide. You can give here.

Celebrating Phil Greene's 10 years of service with EMI

EMI Global,

For those privileged to know Phil, it probably warms your heart and brings a smile to your face just to hear his name. Phil’s positive outlook, encouragement, love for people, and joyful laugh have been essential to EMI Uganda prioritising our people instead of our projects. Phil regularly meets with staff and interns, often traveling to our remote construction staff to check in with and encourage them. Over the past 10 years Phil has faithfully and humbly served in many roles at EMI Uganda: Construction Manager, Structural Engineer, Project Leader, Intern Coordinator, Engineering Manager, Interim Director, and currently as Deputy Director. Through all of these roles, we have seen Phil’s heart for people more and more. Phil's wife, Emily, and their three children, Jonathan, Evelyn, and Luke, have also been an integral part of the EMI Uganda team, through their generous hospitality, kindness, and commitment to those around them.

We are so thankful for your friendship and service, Greene family!
