EMI Canada, in cooperation with EMI Uganda, is thrilled to be providing conceptual designs for Faith Baptist Church and Ministries of Greater Kampala. Faith Baptist Church is a small congregation located in a Northern Kampala suburb of Kyaliwajjala, Uganda. They have been growing and wish to expand into this new facility, with a church for worship and fellowship, with apartments and retail spaces to support the ministry.
Architectural design, stormwater drainage, and program planning will be carried out remotely by the EMI Canada office, while the surveying and site work will be completed by the EMI Uganda office.
Project Scope
The project site is approximately 30m x 30m with a downslope from the frontage road to the back of the lot. The program requirements are for a 3-story multipurpose commercial/apartment building and a 150 seat church with related facilities including worship sanctuary, offices; children’s church; and Pastor’s accommodation.
The multi-purpose building will include ground-floor shops with a mix of retail rental units and apartment units on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The main buildings will occupy approximately 2/3 of the front of the property, with the rear 1/3 to be left for future use, including a possible sports area and septic disposal area. The 3-story multi-purpose building with retail rental units and apartment units will provide rental income for the ministry. The Faith Baptist building committee will determine the mix of shops and apartments.
Currently, the volunteer design team is full, and no other volunteers are needed at this time.
